Janine Denis Cook, Ph.D., DABCC
Janine Denis Cook, Ph.D., DABCC, is currently a chemist within the Division of Workplace Programs (DWP), Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). As a member of the DWP Drug Testing Team, Dr. Cook is involved with the implementation of the Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs and the oversight of the National Laboratory Certification Program. Dr. Cook is also the Designated Federal Official of the CSAP Drug Testing Advisory Board (DTAB). The DTAB, a scientific federal advisory board, provides recommendations to the SAMHSA Administrator on areas related to workplace drug testing, including new drugs of abuse, new technologies, and alternative matrices.
Dr. Cook received her doctorate in chemistry from the University of Iowa. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry at The Johns Hopkins University as well as one in clinical chemistry at the University of Maryland Baltimore. Dr. Cook is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
